Today, the Playstation 2 has officially stopped shipping in Japan. The stock that remains at retailers is all that remains. This is it. After thirteen years of service, and new games coming out across the globe every year, for our old friend is finally retiring. Please take care of your old consoles. They will never come again. Treat them right. Treat our dearest Playstation 2, or as we all lovingly called her, PS2. We love you.

Metal Gear Solid 2 isn’t as good as MGS 1, by far, but it’s still an incredibly good game. It and Raiden don’t deserve the hate.

Though Metal Gear Solid 1 is overall the better game, a lot of MGS 2’s gameplay is much better, and Raiden doesn’t deserve all the hate he gets.

I wish I had a PS2 and a PS3, just so I could play the Metal Gear series. I find it so compelling, even though I’ve never played a single game from it.

Usually I’m pretty open when it comes to people’s opinions of games—love ‘em or hate ‘em, that’s up to you, and I’ll listen to your reasons even if I don’t agree. But Final Fantasy X has a special case—I instantly shut out anyone whose sole reasoning for “FFX was a bad game” is the infamous laughter scene after Luca. Trying to call a game bad by pointing out that a scene that was supposed to be awkward and forced actually came out awkward and forced, is contradicting yourself. There are flaws in FFX and it’s not a perfect game, but if that’s the best you can come up with for hating it I don’t even believe you’ve played it—you’re just jumping aboard a bandwagon excuse.

I feel bad for missing out on a lot of popular game series like Jak & Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and Devil May Cry because when PS2 games were still being sold, instead of buying my own games, I would always just borrow my aunt’s games because it was cheaper.

I heard so many good things about Persona 3 from many different people so believe me I really tried to like it, but 25 hours in I just couldn’t fool myself anymore. :(

Sly Cooper was the game that got me into gaming. I just fell in love with the characters and the story so much. Looking back on the first time with Sly Cooper always makes me smile.

I played Final Fantasy X-2 before I had the chance to play the original. I feel like I’m lucky that I got to avoid the mood whiplash that must have occurred to people who had played FFX first, because there are a lot of people who make judgements on X-2’s seeming 180 and seemingly nonsensical, character-breaking opening and refuse to give the game a chance. And that’s a shame, because X-2 remains to this day one of my favourites if not simply for its gameplay.
